EDUCATION IS EMPATHY

I provide consultation in education, evaluation, and disability inclusion for informal education. My focus especially concerns environmental education indoors, outdoors, and virtually. All of this is done with a lens of empathy in decision-making, not just numbers or "this is the way we've always done it".

Without an empathetic society, we lack a strong reason to learn or engage in challenges that do not directly affect us. We struggle to abstract ideas with emotional and experiential ties. Without education, however, it can be a challenge to develop empathy for something we know nothing about. Empathy and education are intertwined- one begets the other. At the same time, we need to better understand what is and is not empathy, and how the ways we process empathy or learn to employ it can differ across neurodiversities.
